What’s new here
This pack encodes the judgment calls that normally live in a senior designer’s head: how to write a non-leading interview question, when a design system audit is the right move versus a visual critique, how to sequence tokens into a theme. The skills are written for literal interpretation by an agent, not for a human who can read between the lines.
What it does
The repo ships 111 skills and 34 commands across 9 plugins for Claude Code and Gemini CLI. It is the front door for a five-collection suite: design practice (this repo), AI product design, UX program management, design leadership, and inclusive design. The other four live in separate repos but install from the same marketplace command.
Plugins cover: design-research, design-systems, ux-strategy, ui-design, interaction-design, prototyping-testing, design-ops, designer-toolkit, and visual-critique. Each plugin is independently installable.
Skills are knowledge units (nouns). Commands chain skills into full workflows (verbs). /design-research:discover runs personas, empathy mapping, and journey mapping in one pass. /visual-critique:critique-screen runs all seven visual critiques on a screenshot and returns a prioritized fix list. /design-ops:handoff produces a developer-ready spec package.
Who it’s for
Designers who use Claude Code or Gemini CLI as a working tool and want the agent to produce design artifacts that reflect real craft decisions rather than hollow guesses.
Try it
Claude Code (no terminal needed):
/plugin marketplace add Owl-Listener/designer-skills
Then open the Discover tab with /plugin, tick the collections you want, and press enter. Install a single plugin by name:
/plugin install ux-strategy@designer-skills
If you’re not sure where to start:
/designer-toolkit:start-here
Gemini CLI:
git clone https://github.com/Owl-Listener/designer-skills /tmp/designer-skills
mkdir -p .gemini/extensions
cp -r /tmp/designer-skills/.gemini/extensions/. .gemini/extensions/
