ideonomy-legacy

A legacy Python repo with LLM-driven scripts for idea generation, discrimination, and exploration. No README or docs.

What’s new here

The repo has no README or documentation, but the code includes several Python scripts that use the OpenAI API (via the older openai==0.27.0 library) for generative idea work. Files like idea_chain.py, neologisms.py, discriminator.py, hypotheticals.py, kaleidoscope.py, and self_talk.py suggest a system for generating, chaining, and filtering ideas. The lists/ directory contains curated text files on topics like flower attributes, whether an idea is interesting, and how computer architecture resembles a flower. The orgs/ directory holds text on fractals, cooperation in nature, bee hive dynamics, and human-AI relations.

What it does

Based on the file contents, the repo has Python scripts that call the OpenAI chat completion API to generate and evaluate ideas. agent.py defines a Bot class that wraps OpenAI’s ChatCompletion endpoint. file_black_box.py includes a CodeGenPool class that generates code from test descriptions and iterates on failures. discriminator.py, division_selector.py, and hypotheticals.py appear to handle idea evaluation and branching. The lists/ and orgs/ directories store curated text on topics like flowers, fractals, cooperation between organisms, and bee hive dynamics. A requirements.txt pins dependencies including openai, pandas, selenium, revChatGPT, and undetected-chromedriver.

Who it’s for

People experimenting with LLM-driven idea generation and exploration. The code appears to be a personal or research project. Without a README, license, or documentation, it is not set up for outside contributors or users.

Try it

No README documents how to run it. A requirements.txt is present, so you could install dependencies with:

pip install -r requirements.txt

The scripts import from utils.py, which reads a MODEL environment variable (the import fails without it) and sets openai.api_key = "..." as a placeholder to replace with your own key. The code calls openai.Completion and openai.ChatCompletion. Beyond that, there are no documented entry points or usage instructions.

How mature is it

1 star, 0 forks, 1 contributor, 0 releases, 0 commits in the last 90 days, no license. Created and last pushed July 15, 2025. The requirements.txt pins older package versions (e.g., openai==0.27.0, revChatGPT==0.0.48.3). There is no documentation, no tests, and no release history.
