ard-spec

A federated specification for cataloging and discovering MCP servers, A2A agent cards, APIs, and other callable agentic resources across networks.

What’s new here

ARD defines a federated, domain-anchored catalog standard for discovering agentic resources across networks of discovery services.

What it does

ARD is a specification, currently at v0.91. It defines how agentic resources (MCP servers, A2A agent cards, Skills, APIs, and other callable services) are described, cataloged, and discovered across federated networks of discovery services.

The repo contains the spec itself (spec/ard.md), CDDL, JSON Schema, and OpenAPI schema definitions, architecture decision records, and conformance test tooling. The rendered spec lives at agenticresourcediscovery.org/spec, built directly from this repo.

Who it’s for

Platform builders who operate MCP servers or agentic services and need a standard way to publish and query resource metadata across organizational or network boundaries. Also useful for agent framework authors who want a federated discovery standard for cataloging and searching callable resources.

The conformance tooling is in conformance/. The spec itself is readable at:

To read or contribute locally, clone the repo and open spec/ard.md. Normative changes require an issue before a pull request; non-normative changes (examples, conformance tooling, docs) accept PRs directly.

How mature is it

481 stars, 67 forks, 13 contributors, 23 commits in the last 90 days. The spec is at v0.91 with 61 open issues and pull requests and no formal releases yet. Created May 2026, last pushed September 2026. Apache-2.0 licensed. Active but pre-1.0.
