The short version
Backscribe collects no personal data. None. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. The app has nothing to sell and nobody to sell it to.
What the app stores
Nothing about you. The Bible texts the app displays (the World English Bible and the King James Version, both in the public domain) are bundled inside the app itself, along with all fonts and code. Your reading activity — which books, chapters, or historical eras you look at — stays on your device and is not recorded or transmitted anywhere.
Network access
The iOS app works fully offline. In the rare case a bundled text file is unavailable, the app may fetch that public-domain Bible text from GitHub's public file servers (raw.githubusercontent.com). Such a request carries only the standard technical metadata any web request does (such as an IP address), which is handled by GitHub under the GitHub General Privacy Statement. Backscribe adds no identifiers of its own. The web version of Backscribe loads its texts the same way.
Children
Backscribe collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Since the app collects nothing, meaningful changes are unlikely.
